How to clean an ottoman Stool
A simple way to keep ottomans clean for long-term use.
Know the Materials
Make sure you know what type of fabric or upholstery was used to make your ottoman before putting any chemicals on it. Additionally, turn the ottoman over and test any chemicals or solutions on hidden areas of the fabric. Here are a few ways you can easily clean stains on ottomans:
Cotton - Soft fabric shampoo
Faux Fur - Water-soaked sponge or baby wipes Microfiber -
Shredded dish soap Leather - Saddle soap or vinegar and water solution 50/50 Vinyl - Apply baking soda and a soft brush After cleaning, make sure to soak up any excess liquid from the ottoman with a clean, dry cloth.
Clean Up Immediately
The key to preventing spills and stains on any furniture is to address them quickly. Excess liquid should be wiped off, and loose debris should be lightly brushed or removed. Remove the lid from your storage ottoman and inspect the contents to ensure that the surface, edges and interior are in good shape.
Check if your ottoman has wooden supports or legs. To clean these areas, use a damp cloth and some furniture polish, but avoid polishing the upholstery.
Use baking soda to clean
One of the easiest ways to clean an ottoman is to use baking soda. It works like a laundry detergent and produces comparable results. Just sprinkling baking soda all over the ottoman can help remove the stain, but for a deep clean, mix it with water. Apply it as you would when washing your dishes, give it a few minutes to sit, and then wash it off. You will be amazed at the results. These are the best ways to clean and care for ottomans and other furniture. So you can be sure that you now know how to last.
