CLEANING WHITE SHOES

If you are like us, you like your white shoes to stay 'clean and sweet' and sometimes keeping your shoes can be difficult, or it is not?

Need to know how to clean white shoes?

Look no further, here are some simple tricks you can try at home!

What are the options?

There are many ways you can make white shoes look like new again and most of them use basic household products that you probably already have at home!

Here are our cleaning methods to clean white shoes, sandals or boots:

Hot soapy water:

Good for cleaning shoes made of all materials, add about a cup of dish soap to a cup of warm water and stir. Using a cloth or toothbrush, gently rub the shoes until they are clean, wipe off excess water and leave to dry for several hours.

Baking Soda and White Vinegar:

Great for canvas shoes but also suitable for other types of shoes. Mix one tablespoon of warm water with one tablespoon of white vinegar and one tablespoon of baking soda to make a paste. Using a toothbrush, scrub the shoe in a circular motion, then leave the shoe to air for several hours before brushing and shaking the paste dry.

Lots of bleach:

An effective way to clean leather shoes if you do it in a well-ventilated area while protecting your skin and eyes. Create a cleaning solution of one part bleach to five parts water (adding too much bleach can turn your shoes yellow), and brush it in a circular motion. When done, use a damp cloth to wipe the solution and let it dry for at least 5 hours.

Toothpaste

You can also try using toothpaste (white type instead of colored gel). Apply it to the entire shoe in a circular motion, paying attention to all the heavy spots. Leave it on for 10 minutes before wiping it with a wet towel and repeat if necessary.

Keeping your white shoes clean

Once your white shoes are looking new again, here are some helpful tips to help you keep them in top condition:

 Prevention is key:

Stop stains before they show up. by spot spraying and watering every few weeks. Although you still need to give them a good cleaning from time to time, this will make it harder for dirt and grime to get inside the shoes. Soaking in water is not suitable for patent shoes as it can wash away the shiny finish.

Stain Cleaning:

Treat stains or stains as soon as you see them. The longer you leave them, the harder it will be to remove them.

Avoid the washing machine:

While it may be tempting to throw your shoes in the washing machine, doing so can damage your shoes and make them look old prematurely (eep!).

If you've tried everything but your shoes are still worse for wear, maybe it's time to invest in a new pair. To ease the pain of saying goodbye to your old shoes, we've rounded up a variety of shoes to help you find your next favorite white pair!
