Legend behind Hartalika Teej
According to legend, this day celebrates the union ceremony of Lord Shiva and his consort, Goddess Parvati. While he really loved her, he didn't know she existed. During the Hartalika Teej prayer, sweets, powdered rice and flowers along with coins are offered as holy offerings. The holy katha tells the story of all women or single priests. In this narrative, all women focus on the well-being of their husbands - their husbands. Apart from prayer, women give special importance to 'shringar' or make-up.
